Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
Note: This document has been drafted to reflect Varnalayam's actual products, pricing, and policies, but has not yet been reviewed by a qualified lawyer. Treat it as a solid working draft, not a final legal document — get it reviewed for compliance with Indian law before relying on it in a dispute.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing Varnalayam Arts ("we", "us", "our", the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and are responsible for maintaining the security of your credentials.
3. Purchases & Payments
All payments are processed via UPI. Prices are in Indian Rupees (INR) and include applicable taxes where indicated. Course purchases grant you personal, non-transferable access. Payment verification is completed within 24 hours of screenshot submission.
4. Refund Policy
- Online courses: non-refundable once accessed beyond preview content.
- Physical products (art, raw materials): returns accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition.
- Office hours bookings: cancellation allowed up to 24 hours before the scheduled time.
- In-person class registration: see Section 5 below.
5. In-Person Class Registration
Varnalayam offers an in-person intensive class as the capstone of our curriculum, currently priced at ₹65,000. The fee and course details are set by Varnalayam and may change from time to time; the price and terms in effect at the time you register are the ones that apply to you.
To be eligible to register, you must:
- Have completed and been issued certificates for all currently live online courses; and
- Be located in India. This is a self-declared confirmation made at the time of registration — we do not perform independent geographic verification, and providing a false declaration may result in cancellation of your registration without refund.
Registration is confirmed only once your payment has been verified. If your registration is cancelled by Varnalayam before the class takes place (for example, due to insufficient enrollment or scheduling changes), you will receive a full refund. Cancellations initiated by you are handled at Varnalayam's discretion on a case-by-case basis; contact us as early as possible if your plans change.
6. Marketplace Submissions & Commission
Students who complete a course may submit their own artwork for listing on the Varnalayam Marketplace, subject to approval by a Guru or Varnalayam admin. You retain ownership of your artwork at all times; Varnalayam only lists and facilitates the sale.
Commission: your first approved painting is listed with no commission — 100% of the sale price (less nothing) goes to you. For every listing after your first, Varnalayam charges a commission on the sale price. The commission rate that applies to you is either:
- the platform's standard commission rate, set by Varnalayam and shown on your profile; or
- a custom rate you and Varnalayam have specifically agreed to, which you may request through your profile page — a custom rate only takes effect once approved by Varnalayam.
The commission rate actually applied to a given listing is locked in at the time it is approved, so a later change to the standard rate or your custom rate does not retroactively change what you owe on a painting already listed. Payouts are issued after order delivery confirmation.
7. Intellectual Property
All course content, including videos, text, and imagery, is the property of Varnalayam Arts or its instructors. Redistribution or unauthorized sharing is prohibited.
8. Limitation of Liability
The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the Platform.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India.
